National Consultancy to Conduct Data Gap and Needs Assessments to Inform Marine Spatial Planning in Jamaica.

This assessment finds Jamaica’s MSP data is decentralized, outdated, and mostly nearshore. Despite prior work like the Pedro Bank MSP, priority gaps remain in fishing grounds, spawning/nursery areas, benthic habitats, mariculture, and offshore renewable energy. Recommendations include participatory mapping, ESRI/Marxan tools, a dedicated MSP team, and completing the NSPIT data platform to support the Blue Economy roadmap.
