Food Insecurity

Food insecurity happens when these conditions are not met, leading to hunger, malnutrition, and, in severe cases, starvation. Chronic food insecurity persists over long periods, while acute food insecurity is temporary and threatens lives.

Causes of Food Insecurity

  1. Climate Change: Droughts, floods, and extreme weather destroy crops.

  2. Conflict: Disrupts supply chains, ruins infrastructure, and drives displacement.

  3. Economic Shocks: Poverty, high food prices, and pandemics limit access to food.
